Has anyone had any success in repairing caravan moldings with Lego bricks melted in acetone? I've bought the acetone and have old bricks. Done a bit of research and this seems to work , was just after some first hand advice to give me confidence before I truly destroy the van by melting the front off.
hello mark I have just completed what you are about to do first mask up the area cover up windows with some old blankets get that stuff on them game over once it has melted and you are ready to go with a small brush paint neat acetone on the cracks to clean and allow the surfaces to bond together when you apply your melted Lego bricks try not to put it on to thick can always apply more just makes it better when finishing of the surface it will shrink a little once dry after this was done I did paint the area with 2k paint mine was above the front windows and below the aluminium rail just a thin strip blended quite well was under a cover with all the rain a wind we have had see pictures in my profile best regards redheads.
don't know if it will last haven't used caravan yet will only know when caravan gets used movement etc.

I remember leaving some in the garden and it broke very easily after a year outside.
I did some work on mine nearly a year ago (after some advice from this forum), round the rear light lens, still good.
Mark, have a look at my gallery pics, I think there are still some of the repair I completed.
I built a bead of lego putty along the cracks to strengthen.
As I said, almost a year ago and still not showing any sign of weakening.
If you have doubts about using lego, you could buy a scrap 'A' frame cover from a caravan breakers, same material as what you're wanting to repair.

You won't be able to get hold of Lego soon. Elddis will have bought it all up to fix their cracking rear panels!

Ancient thread resurrection. I've just repaired a crack in the front moulding of our Conway using this method. All of the Lego in our house is in specific kits so cannot be sacrificed — so I used some ABS from a solvent weld pipe from B&Q. This dissolved overnight into eBay acetone in a jam jar to make a wonderful thick putty.
I opened up the crack using the engraving bit on my Dremel, then pressed the putty in using a wooden clothes peg. It sagged a bit on evaporation, but after three rounds of sanding and filling was virtually flat. A bit more sanding and polishing, and:
