We went to look at our caravan last weekend and discovered on one side lots of little bubbles on the paint work in different patches. They don't seemed to have gone into holes. The caravan is about 11 years old, we have had it for a year. We contacted the very large caravan company that we purchased it from and they have told us that they haven't seen this before??? Has anyone got any ideas what is causing them please?
its probably damp on the inside causing the aluminium to bubble .i cannot believe they have not seen or heard of it before sounds like a typical fob off ,the bubbles will turn into holes definitely
Of course they have seen it before!!!
As the Alu is untreated on the inside (no paint covering), when it gets wet from water ingress and damp it Oxidises and causes the bubbling on the outside.
Afraid you'll need to strip back on the inside and fix from the inside.
hello blue sky I to have bubbles on the paint work at the rear on one side I have discovered that it has been painted before there is no damp on the inside its just been poor preparation and it has micro blistered when weather warms up I will rub it down beyond the blistering and re paint in 2k paint.
Bet that was a relief, but equally we had bubbling which the caravan service man pointed out was damp and he was right.
Fingers crossed for you, that you are as lucky as redhead
Thanks for your help and advice everyone. We called in an expert and he tells us that the caravan has at some time had a paint job which is now bubbling!! It's got the wrong bathroom window too?????? So we are guessing that it's had an accident at some time.
