Had lots of fun yesterday removing a corner steady for repair, if you are thinking of having a go soak the threads in WD40 for at least 24 hours before you start.
The 2 countersunk bolts, inside a locker
One bolt came out cleanly using the ratchet screwdriver to hold screw and spanner underneath the other managed half a dozen turns, just enough to lift bolt for grips.
removed leg showing broken lift screw.
.
Once off the van remove this pin with a suitable drift.
.
Pin removed through this hole in center of picture
.
Pin showen half way out.
.
Shaft being removed after pin removal.
.
.
As you can see from this picture the leg has to be spread to get new lifting nut in.
.
This is how it was done.
.
.
How to close up the sides again.
.
finished leg ready to go back on the van.
.
The stupid countersunk bolts used to fix the legs to the van (see below),new proper bolts to be used when being replaced.
the leg on the other side is under the shower tray, if this needs changing it will be don without removing it.
it can be done on the van as you can see from the pictures but i think you would have to be fit and agile and have someone to help you, even if you do it by removing you will still need some help
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
this is fantastic and just what I need, I posted a question about same repair a while back and talked myself out of it but this is great.. thanks very much
