While starting to renovate my Electrolux 4237 three-way fridge I disconnected the gas intake pipe and discovered a plug had been inserted into it. This fitted neatly into the pipe, completely blocking it. It appeared to be made of fabric or cotton wool rather similar to the filters used in cigarettes.

I have only once used the fridge on gas and fond it very ineffective. Presumably, this plug was preventing a free-flow in the gas supply, causing the poor performance.

When the ridge is used on a 240 volt connection it works perfectly.

I’m inclined to re-assemble the gas supply without that plug, but I wondered if anyone has any comment or advice about this.

Hi, This is the very reason that people who don't have the proper training should'nt be trying to repair gas appliances, the plug you refer to is a filter and should not be removed.
