I emailed a Mobile Caravan service engineer who had been recommended on a previous post but I can't find it.
A couple of folks had said he was unreliable but most were quite happy with him.
I emailed him a few weeks ago asking for a rough idea of waiting time and cost for annual service.
I got a reply about a week later saying they were taking bookings from end of May which was fine but no indication of price.
I left it another week or so and emailed again asking for a rough idea of cost before I booked.
I got a reply quoting a price for a town about 60 miles from where I live?
Also asked to contact the engineer on his mobile for further information? Got the impression the lady who was replying couldn't be bothered.
Now I know this is their busy time and I am in no rush to get the service done hence contact by email rather than mobile. I was self employed for many years and it was a pain in the bum having to constantly answer the phone when you are on a job and someone is paying for your time.
I also realise cost is just a estimate and dependent on any parts required if any but I never get someone to do a job without some idea of cost and at the correct address!
I just find poor customer service puts me off using someone, I was asking a question I would assume most people would ask " roughly when and how much"..
So maybe thats why a few said he was unreliable?

No point as I actually believe he does a good job regarding the caravan service, its his reliability and customer service that may be in doubt. As for not appearing interested in new work its his loss, he would be glad of it in the quiet season and I would have waited as its not desperate.
I will do what we all do..take my money elsewhere.

edit:
I just thought I would try out a mobile engineer as the cramps in my hands are getting worse and holding tools etc can be difficult as I have generally done my own service and a mate does the gas stuff, I'll just pick a warm day.
I have another couple of numbers for a mobile guy which I got on hear but if you have another one.

Hi there. I too had the same problem, I'm guessing with the same person as the replies to email were a long time coming, if at all And answered by as female.
I ended up using John Allan At motor caravan services

I use the OP's guy and have for years. He is good and reliable, but as pointed out, email wise he is not "on the ball".
I guess that those of us that are email savvy, will distrust businesses that are not so.
If he would rather arrange his business by mobile phone, that is up to him. I too find it odd in this day and age, but that does not detract from the fact that I will continue to use him for all my caravan needs.
