Hi Guys,
I am hoping you can help. We have just returned from the first trip of the season and I noticed when leaving the front right leg drop seemed to have moved down.
I didn't think much of it when leaving but on return decided to have a look under the van..... OH My God I thought. The front floor seems to have dropped 3 inches on the right hand side. The floor seems to be off the side wall as its split away. The split runs about two foot from the front of the van to just under the front window. My first thought is how has this happened, the next is can it be fixed, is it a big job my gut tells me yes it is. Having seen some of the great repairs done by the guys out there any feedback greatly received.
Hopefully you can see the pics here

But not beyond repair. If it were me I'd be looking for a way to bond a replacement piece of plywood into the floor structure. Gorilla glue and big overlaps to give it strength.
just looked at your pics and me and hubby both said at the same time that it looks like it's been cut by a jigsaw in some of the pictures. How long you had the van?
------------- -x- Diane -x-
May 13 - Cala Gogo, St Cyprien (didn't go, hubby too ill to travel)
May 14 Ranc Davaine
August 14 Les Sablons
August 13 - Camping Playa Brava, Pals
Always difficult to be sure from pictures but from those posted up, I'm pretty confident that is not a split, but a cut done by a jigsaw, as mentioned before by Diane.
Plywood just doesn't split like that either. As it's multi layered with the grain going in different directions, any fracture is pretty violent with a ragged and torn edge to it.
I'd be looking very close internally for signs of some modification or work done in that area. Any sign of sawdust will make it a certainty.
Maybe someone started cutting an area of damp out and gave up?
Thanks for all your replies guys,
To answer a few we have had the van for 4yrs, and I'm sure it wasn't there when I put her to bed last Oct. The van stays in the garden. I haven't used the legs to level the van as all the sites we visit are flat.
But I may remember one time a corner may have had to have been raised but nothing excessive I think (Grampian).
My Big query is how to reattach it to the side of the van, I know a strip down will be required but generally how are the floors attached to the sides at the bottom?. maybe a stupid question is there somewhere to screw a number of L brackets to around the floor / wall area then screw the floor up into them ?, followed by silicone type sealer.
