Here's a little nugget of info that I didn't know about until this morning.

I have found out that if you have a new caravan, you are definitely NOT tied into going back to the dealer you bought it from for servicing and warranty issues.

Provided the workshop you are proposing to use is NCC approved you should be able to get your 'van serviced and repaired without invalidating your warranty. But........here's the rub. The workshop has to be approved by the manufacturer and appear on a list provided by a company called Jones - Vening. You can find out from their website: www.jones-vening.co.uk

All that is then required is a quick phone call to the customer services department of your manufacturer to check that the proposed workshop is recognised by them and bob's your uncle.

This worked for me and my Elddis 'van. I bought it from a dealer some 60 miles away and although I have an Elddis dealer closer, they won't undertake warranty work. However there is a NCC workshop not 10 miles away who is on the approved list with Elddis and Jones-Vening.

I don't doubt that there are some of you who know this already, but I'd be ready to bet that there are many more who don't. I didn't and I've been caravanning for 23 years!

Cheers for that, it might make it easier when I book my next service / snagging visit.

We have found the opposite problem- that unless you buy the van from them they won't service it.

That's what I thought as well Jan. But as I said in my posting, this is not the case, but the trade doesn't make it public. It's a form of restrictive practice which isn't valid. You don't have to abide by this rule.

Just had a look on website Jones Vening and they have the name of a dealer that has numerous complaints against them and yet they are supposed to be an approved workshop.  Does not give you much faith in the quality of a so called approved workshop from a management company????????

Well Ian, perhaps you'd like to inform Jones Vening of this fact or perhaps let them know where they can get information on this particular dealer?

I am sure they would be interested because such info washing around the internet doesn't do much for their image as you have already pointed out :-)

Just had our van serviced by a mobile man who was very thorough indeed and is on the list of approved workshops. Reading area if anyone wishes to know his name.
