I've just bought a second hand caravan and found the gas heater not to be working, I couldn't see a spark when trying to light it so removed the piezo ignitor and when I press the button I don't see a spark at the other end? should I? would this be the first item I should replace.
Also I don't know what model carver heater I have (in case I need to get a replacement) and there's very little information on it, if anyone could shed any light it would be great.
I tried searching for the number stamped on the ignitor but to no avail, does it have to be a carver one or is there a generic one I could get?
Don't wish to appear negative but, your heater looks to need a good clean/service/overhaul before being used, also try the simplest thing first,if it's been standing sometime, replace the battery, they dont last forever
late 80's early 90's and two possible model numbers, SBM1800 or just 1800, either way same piezo required and I've one in stock.
As others mention, before doing anything, at the very least check the steel gas pipes where they are exposed under the van.
Like old fashioned brake pipes, these are often badly corroded and possibly leaking gas!
hi i've found that the piezo is working but just not getting a spark at the ignitor window. I've been unable to find a heater the same as mine would another 1800 with a different front/layout fit? ie
if so I will get one and get a caravan gas person to come out and fit.
