we are viewing a europa 540 tomorrow,I would appreciate any help if anyone can let me know, based on their experiences, if there is anything or anywhere I should pay specific attention. It is a 2006 and is priced at £6980?
Any help is really appreciated as we are new to this, I have a damp meter, which is the reason we are still without a van, we did have our hearts set on a Bailey but having viewed at least 10, and having covered close to
2000 miles we cannot find anything without significant levels of damp(30% +).
Thanks in advance.
Chris

I saw about 1,000,000 vans before i bought mine (only kidding)but i know what you mean when searching for a van.

Dont just take anything because your getting fed up looking there is one out there for you.

Remember to check all corners for damp and that means the roof corners too.Around the windows, the door, and the front should be checked as well as skylights and around the shower area.

Dont let anyone hurry you as its your money your spending and you will only get one go at it.

Thanks Jeff,
It does seem like we will never find one, things reached a climax this weekend with a 380 mile round trip with 6 year old twins and a 12 year old to view another damp van. Before setting off I grilled the dealer to check if there was any damp and asked if he was aware if the caravan had been repaired in any way. As soon as I got out of the car I spotted splodges of silicon all over the awning rail and surprise, surprise really bad damp in the corresponding internal panel.
I am capable doing repairs but do not want to spend, what to us, is a big sum of money knowing that I will have to spend my weekends working on the van rather than enjoying it with the kids.
We decided against viewing the sterling as its not really what we want and will carry on looking for something decent.

If you are buying from a dealer, you should get a warranty, but my advice would be not to travel too far, so that in the event of a claim you do not have to travel too far back.

There are at least two dealers near us who I would deal with, and expect any claims to be honored.

For nearly £7,000 you should eventually get a good van.

Bit above your price, but they do come up.

Regards,

Jim.
