Abbey 216 2berth caravan. I am told the oneshot wheel nuts have to be 280n/m, or 208ft/lbs Is this correct?

Hi, make sure you are not confusing the hub nuts ,and wheel nuts, the hub nut is the large nut in the centre of the hub and should only be used once and does have require a high torque setting beyond the scope of a diy torque wrench. Wheel nuts are the 4 nuts retaining the wheel and on my caravan require setting at 65 foot pounds. hope this helps

Thanks for your reply to my question on wheel nuts . I do mean hub nuts but didn't make it clear.

Am I right in saying the tension is 280n/m,( 208 ft/lb)?

Hi Ron,

There are various hub nuts available Alko or BPW chassis and which nut you have for your particular wheel size, most are 290 Nm though. Have a look at this link, it shows various hub nuts and should make it clearer.

the alko one shot ones are very tight.. he he..

i was going to remove my drums to inspect things but gave up for fear of breaking my 1/2 drive socket bar..

these things are always harder to undo than do up.. they really need a good long 3/4 drive socket set and long bar to get undone..
