Had to remove my old CD player but had cut wire to attach new connector for new player . But now won't turn on ! All wires are there 1 red live checked , one black , another red one . I have connected live to yellow on cd , black to black , and red to red ( ignition ) but still no power to player !!! Any help would be appreciated as I'm baffled .
Try putting in a search with the brand name CD player plus wiring diagram. Remember that the switched live won't be active via an ignition switch so should be connected to the caravan auxiliary switch which will be in line with the caravan battery wiring when all related power switches are on.
Shouldn't be able to go too far wrong, the unit would normally have a switched live via ignition (if fitted to a car), a permanent live for memory retention and a ground.
Even if you get the switched and permanent live the wrong way round, the unit would still work providing the van is set for 12v operation as indicated by Tango.
Of course, depending on how you cut the wiring originally, you may have popped a supply fuse somewhere, either in the wiring loom and/or the 12v supply board. Depending on brand of new unit, there could be a small integral fuse within a clip-in carrier on the back panel of the CD/tuner.
Check the few comments mentioned and if all else fails, you'll need to arm yourself with a small multimeter to check presence of supply voltages etc.
