Hi my Thetford C2 toilet won't flush.
There is water in the holding tank, I have checked the blade fuse and powered all the electrics up but nothing happens when I press the flush button and the blade fuse is till OK
Where would you suggest I start my investigations? I thought that the switch may be at fault or maybe a broken wire somewhere in the system, any suggestions? please

I would start with the battery first to see if it is fully charged and if it is then the only way to detect a fault is by conducting tests by trial and error by the use of a multi-meter.

Battery is fully charged and even the mains powered up with the battery charger running. All the other 12V electricals work and I can't find any blown fuses anywhere. I Think I'll start at the switch and see if there is any power there. From what I've been reading if the pump was at fault it would blow the blade fuse.
Thanks for the reply

Pump wouldn't always blow the fuse if faulty; best to check the pump on a 12v supply to test, outside of the toilet.

Just for reference, there's a fairly good interactive Sanitation Repair Guide that covers most common faults on Thetford's range of cassette toilets. You can find it here.

Cheers Paul G7ACU for the info.
Nice to meet a fellow radio ham, with a call sign like yours I could be forgiven for suspecting that you have a love of motorbike racing too? or is it just co-incidence?

Hi Graham.
Only just caught up with the thread, hope you're getting sorted with the problem.

No biking history, just chance with allocation as one of the first wave of licensed G7's. Rev wifey licensed too but I gotta be honest, I've been fairly silent for some years and only recently resurrected some kit.

Cheers for now

Hi Beechy, I had the same problem, turned out to be corroded connection on the switch due to the close proximity to the water in the tank, I solved it by rehashing the connection with small connectors, prise the switch assembly off to access the wiring then make sure you have 12v on the flex coming up from the fuse area then bypass the switch to ensure pump is working if it is then it's the switch.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post.
The fault is with the pump, power is reaching the pump but the pump is seized and even when attached directly to a power supply (ie fully charged battery it doesn't move)just waiting for a replacement to arrive.
Cheers
Graham

Brill, glad you're sorted and thanks for finding the time to update the thread.
Many folk just vanish into the ether and we never know if their issues are resolved or not, but complete threads can be of potential use to other users.
