I have a Freedom caravan with a pair of submersible 12v pumps which pump cold water to the sink and basin. I manually lift them in and out of the water carriers which are housed in a cupboard under the cooker. At the end of the last season, I lifted them out, drained them down, and left them dangling in a tall jar, with a cloth under to catch drips, my usual winterising method. When I come to put them back into water neither is working. I get a click when I switch the tap on but nowt else. Anyone got any suggestions why they are not working. All the other 12v fixtures (lights etc.) are working fine.

Check whether there are any inline fuses in the pump feeds, and check whether the pump impellers are turning when you switch on. I am inclined to think a fuse is more likely, as there are two pumps involved and it seems less likely that both are seized.

Thank you Colin. I was starting to think about a fuse myself (brain works slowly at my age) though as the cables both disappear behind the fridge, I think I will check the propellers first! thanks again and kind regards P

You can use some wires, just be carefull about short cut them.
Using a car batterie and connect direct to a batterie.
This would tell you if the pump is seized or working.
Easiest option.

Hi Pecamina, I know just what you mean about the brain working slower, I'm not so spritely these days either. As V70tom says, you could check the pumps by connecting them directly onto a battery, after checking the impellers are turning. If they work, you will have to check in all your lockers to see if there is an online fuse somewhere.

It may helps, but on our van, the connectors on the inside of the sub pump connections been very loose and could come of through vibration on driving.
May also worth checking.
