I have an old caravan with the brown plastic mixer taps. All has been fine until one of the taps started making a noise after use. My pet caravan engineer told me that perhaps the washer has got some dirt in and may need replacing. To save money I am trying to do the job myself. I have removed the tap but cannot dismantle it any further. The micro switch wires are still attached as I cannot see how to get to them. Any replies would be very helpful

I have recently replaced the mixer taps in my 2000 Swift and I think there are no washers in micro switch taps as they only pass water when switched on.(could be wrong( but the one I replaced were a sealed unit

Rod is correct, most earlier taps that were designed specifically for micro-switch use don't have washers.

What's the exact symptom you have though as a worn washer (if there was one) wouldn't normally have given you an noise after use of the tap.

Hi, depends on make of tap, whale and comet and maybe some others made brown taps. the whale ones I had just had a mechanism that kinked a pipe to control flow. the comet type had a screw mechanism and an O ring
