a quick question if anyone can advise...

whilst we were away I noticed a damp patch in the wardrobe area that feels moist to the touch....our plan is to use clear silicone on all the outside seams to try to stop it getting any worse until we have time to start the repairs properly....I am just in the process of cleaning the van in preparation for this....my question is am I doing the right thing?

i wouldn't touch it unless its REALLY soft, hope for some nice warm sunny weather to dry it out..if you silicone it you will be sealing in the damp and make things potentially worse ...good luck
if you do have to silicone it don't use the cheapo stuff its worse than useless

It is really soft and spongy Billy. It is the outside if the caravan I was going to seal...will this still make the damp worse? Sorry I am confused I don't understand how I will be sealing the damp in??? and not sure what to do now as it's forecast rain and I am worried about further leaks 😯

caravan will be either the making or death of me....so I haven't used silicon cos you said it isn't any good, what should I use instead?

Well, Silkaflex or Soudal are both good they don't gry out and leave a flexible type of join so when you are moving the van they don't crack when the van flexes..there are quite a few but these are the ones i've used with success....Captain ...forgotten the name..lol leak finder is very good for small leaks
