can someone tell me what I am doing wrong, I feel so thick right now!
I can't get any water to come through my taps, I have filled the water tank thing under the caravan....I know it is full cos water overflowed from it!! I don't know how to tum the pump on (or even if I have to!!) let alone get any hot water to come from the damn thing
This whole caravanning malarkey is becoming more stressful by the minute and it was meant to be a way of escaping the stress and having quality time with my family....ARRRGHH
Please be gentle with me when replying...any help would be appreciated xx

Do you have a leisure battery fitted to the van or a suitable 12V power supply?
As you only bought it yesterday (according to your other post) have you asked the seller?
Get hold of the Haynes caravan manual it may help generally.

Hi,
thanks for your reply.I have a leisure battery which came with it when we bought it, but it was flat...the seller did attach another battery to briefly show us that the pump was working (or at least making some sort of noise) but no water supply at time so could not see water coming through the taps.
We bought the van on Saturday just gone, so I will ask my hubby to phone him when he gets home.
where would we get a Haynes manual from?
I really do not have a clue what I am doing and we are meant to be going away in it tomorrow afternoon, will the water only run from the leisure battery? can't I use the mains supply (I have it connected through the house at the moment.
feeling really stressed and annoyed with myself right now for rushing into buying a caravan without thinking things through properly
It's a steep learning curve once you understand how things work it will be a doddle and you will love it
The Haynes manual is very useful as lots of caravans have generic parts.
Try you tube might have videos showing what you need to know
You'll most likely have a master switch for your electrics on a small control panel somewhere (normally by the door). There will probably be a few other switches next to it, one maybe for the pump.
You'll need to connect the water pump to the socket on the outside of the caravan, and drop the other end into your (full) water barrel.
This should automatically fill your onboard hot water tank (once the pump switch is on and you have a fully charged leisure battery). You'll have a switch for the heating element for the hot water tank somewhere as well. Don't switch that on unless the hot water tank is full and you have a barrel connected.
The tank that you may have filled to overflowing might actually be your toilet flush tank?
Do you have a water barrel and pump? If not, you'll need to get one.
Hi, don't panic, if the water supply is your only problem, you,ve heard the pump run at some point so it may well pump ok. so drain tank ( don't tow with it full) and off you go. there will be lots of caravaners/ wardens only to happy to help if you are new to it yourself. good luck and happy holiday
Check under seats to make sure the drain switch on the pump (normally yellow ) aren't pointing and continually draining your water.
If they are up just flick them down.
like ray says there will be a master switch (row of switches)
somewhere that activates all your services.
ours was behind the TV station in the compass, but above the door in the coachman.
hope this helps.
if not and you cannot hear the pump going when you turtn on your taps juggle pump that goes from the barrel into the caravan socket to see if you it is just a bad fitting.
ps
I leave all switches and cut outs to my missus.
Me brawn she brains. I must never admit it though.
