Hi
Found damp on the front sill and bulk head wall of my bailey pageant S7 monarch
Trouble is I can't seem to pin point the Ingres for sure, think water getting in from window seal on one front window, water collects on sill below window every where else is bone dry, I will do the repairs myself as warranty is up now (6 year old) but first I must find how water is getting in, has any one got any information or experience with this model to help me
Thanks in advance
Mike
Have had a look higher up in lockers but bone dry every where apart from sill and below, put tissue on window rubbers and this becomes wet after heavy rain but not sure where from, the small gap were rubbers meet has signs of water, not sure if window fits tight enough
if like on my van you have three front windows the smaller side ones are at an angle.. water runs straight down between the seals.. the seals at an angle are the ones most likely to leak.. the natural path for the water is into the seal as opposed to straight down and away..
trog
ps.. my front side window had a rubber seal leak..for a number of years water had been pouring in the side of the seal.. draining out through the bottom into the gas locker and away with no signs inside the van.. it did cause rot damage to the wood at the bottom of the window frame and corner of the sill.. easy enough to fix.. just a shame it had been left so long..
Thanks for that trog
Since my posting I have cleaned and sprayed silica on to rubber seal and when last checked seems to have worked, so fingers crossed advise from this forum has worked for me, I will have to replace sill and bulk head because of damage but is worth doing van is in excellent dry condition apart from the problem, so a winter project for me just got to find a match of board to do job
Cheers
mine really needed a new rubber seal for a professional fix.. when you fit new rubbers there is a mastic joint that that keeps the water out.. i had some clear sticky tape i ran down the angled side on the offending small front side window.. i never open them so its all hidden..
one day i may fit a new rubber but i doubt it.. he he
there is a lot of water running down the sloping front on some caravans..
i used fablon very like the existing finish to recover my front sill.. it made a very neat job.. my sill wasnt bad enough to replace but the front corner has gone soft underneath where the leak was..
