hi guys n gals
been out in the van a few times now and have found damp around the kitchen window the wallboard is all soft and the wood underneath the window seal is rotten. the top of the window is fine however its just the 2 sides and underneath. the wallboard is soft for around 2 inch at the sides and underneath. my question is first how do i find out where the water is coming from this is a job that i will be starting at the end of October after our last trip out of the year.
1. am i better off removing the wallboard to find the leak or not?
2. if i only have to remove part of the softwood frame how would i join the 2 pieces together (butt joint/lap joint)
3. if i need to replace the insulation what should i replace it with?
4. what would i use to stick the wood back to the aluminium shell of the caravan (wood and insulation)
apart from the above i am fairly confident in doing the job just need some clarification on the above points
has anyone any ideas to look for the leak i know awning rails and window seals but not sure which to look at first
Steve..sorry I am unable to help with damp issues but would say it is generally the awning rails that cause issues.
There are lots of folks on here who have worked on damp vans and hopefully someone will come along with some help.

it will be coming in at the rubber window seals.. if they are not glued to the outside of the van water just leaks in.. it collect around the bottom of the window inside the panel.. it can leak for years before its notice..
