Hi, I cant find a thread for this but could be pilot error:)
We have a Fleetwood Caravan (1994-5) And its been parked for 3 years on a site. When we thought we might like to move it to another site we found the legs especially the front ones are impossible to move. They are rusted. We plied them with WD40 Three times, banged some of the rust off but still no joy also used a wire brush. Worried now that we cant replace them if the nuts / bolts are also the same way.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated so Thanks in advance..

Get a tin of Plusgas and squirt it all over the rusty threads. Let it soak in and do it a few times.
Work the winder in and out and it should slowly get easier until it's working again. Don't skimp on the Plusgas.

I second the use of Plusgas you would be very lucky to get them to work with wd40 it is more of a water displacer well over used for applications it's not meant for. Use Plusgas and give it time to work as Stuart says don't skimp on it and apply it a few time and it should do the trick.

This is a picture of the leg removed from my van, you will notice on the left of the leg the lifting bolt that the threaded bar turns through, as above posts use loads of plus gas on the thread leave for 24 hours then turn it backwards and forwards a little at a time.
if your lucky and take your time you could get the legs up enough to move your van.

Get a small gas torch. Heat it up as much as you can and spray with plusgas or similar.

There is a freeze spray shok unlok or similar? Heat it up and then hit it with teh freeze spray should help release the threads.


Remember to dry the threads afterwards and grease the entire length.
I use coppergrease. Only a thin coating you dont want a thick blob that will attract dirt.

Hi,I would be very reluctant to get a gas torch flame around the underside of the caravan especially if you have been spraying a lubricant around the area. give a good soak with plus gas or similar overnight, then give each pivot point a few sharp taps with a hammer and this may well do the trick.

The gas torch i have is small and used lighter gas to power it. Its a very fine flame, Easily enough room to heat small selected parts with no risk.

Obviously dont spray anything near a flame.

I have one of these. But the ignitor has packed up after 15 years... Dont make them like they used to

Gas Torch..
