Hi, our newly acquired 2001 Swift has a problem with the kitchen tap, when twist it out of the way so worktop can be lowered the tap doesn't seem to want to move and the pipes underneath seem to be restricting it, it doesn't feel right at all, we're wondering if the wrong tap is fitted as it should swivel with ease.

Surely the pipes underneath shouldn't move at all. Sound to me like a problem within the tap itself that's causing the problem with the swivelling. If there is a wire going to the tap underneath it has a micro switch for on/off and this is stuck on. These can be replaced I believe. You may need to remove the tap and strip it down to see what the problem is, either that or replace it.

It sounds like the large nut that fixes the tap in place underneath the sink has come undone slightly so when you try to swivel the tap body it is turning the pipes as well. I'm not a lover of swivelling taps and much prefer permanent fixed taps for this reason but if the nut is tight then I would agree with 'madasaman' that it has to be a problem within the tap itself.
We bought a new Europa in 2001 and this had the same tap.You will most likely find as Tango has said, the tap has seized on the swivel and is turning by the nut underneath becoming loose, that is why the pipes are trying to move.Ours cracked after about 5 years and i had to replace it, and the new tap moved more freely than the original one ever did. Also sounds as though the micro-switch is shot.
Think you will find this is the tap http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/caravan/water/reich_taps/reich_keramik_twist_single_lever_mixer_tap_plus_spare_parts.aspx
Yes the large nut underneath was loose but when I hand tightened it the tap would hardly move at all. Both kitchen and bathroom sink taps are whale single lever mixer taps although the bathroom one doesn't need to swivel.
Hopefully sorting the tap will solve the pump problem also!
Thanks for the link Birdman those taps look good and certainly cheaper than the Whale brand.

Thanks Birdman, discovered the bathroom tap does swivel as does the kitchen one but like you said has seized, bathroom one not so bad just seems like lack of use, kitchen one is very bad and may need replacing in the end.
Think OH is going to refit and see how they work before investing in new, the micro switches seem to be temperamental rather than not working at all!

If Reich taps the short and long spouts can be swapped over have grub screw under spigot where spout fits into somtimes replaced with selftapper.
have to put hands in sink and work upwards to slacken do not over tighten when replacing or will split spigot and then leak on work surface not in sink.
Whale taps, the dearer choice. The bathroom tap has gold pieces here and there and a shorter spout, kitchen all chrome with longer spout. New one ordered now so hope the problem will be sorted soon.
