But when the repair is done will the area of damp ever be same as before

i just cant believe a one yr old caravan has damp!!! i hope they will get it sorted for you asap for the season ahead :O) let us know how u get on and good luck :O)

If the repair is done properly then it should be ok.

Sounds like a case of poor build quality to me. Seems to be quite a few getting by the quality test these days!  

I realise it's probably not what you want to hear but our Swift had to go back to the factory in each of the 3 years we owned it. It spent more time there than it did in our drive.

I sold it the week the warranty ran out and bought a German van.

I think i can answer your question for you as I recently put this question to spinneys at knutsford who were servicing our van. A reading of up to 85% is fine as it merely means that a repair can be carried out and then the effected part would then not suffer any further ingress and dry out with no problems. Over 85% the panal should be removed and replaced as there is now chance that it would dry out.

Most vans have moisture, thats a fact but its the percentage reading that you should apparantly be concerned about. When our van came back from its service its readings were very good other than two which were in the 60s and both where the corner moulds were. These were taken of for us, resealed and this we were told would prevent any further ingress and would also allow the moisture to dry out.

However that said our Van is a 1998 bailey rangerand other than those bits I mention there was no further signs of damp. On a van of 1 year old i personally as ia ma sure you are would be very dissapointed. poor workmanship when the van was sealed by the sounds of it, My next van? another bailey ranger,

We hear and read about all these problems with new caravans and ask question why. Surely the answer is that this hobby of our is being over promoted, the manufacturers can sell whatever rubbish they wish to produce.

On top of that has anyone noticed how difficult it is getting to book the better sites, how long before quality drop there as well

I am starting to wander if there are any waterproof British vans made at the moment. I think there are some very nice German and Dutch vans but they tend to be quite heavy (1500kg).

I sympathise with Bill and Tania, the Ace Jubilee was on my short list, which I know comes from the same factory. I wander if Swift or any of the other makers have records of which batch of vans are good and which have lots of problems reported or do they all have problems!

Hopefully a representative of one or all these makers might read these comments before they go the same way as MG-Rover.

In the mean time I think I'll stick to the trailor tent.
