Yet another issue with the van - when we purchased the van the previous owner showed us the heating running - which seemed fine.

However, at the weekend the first night it worked fine. The second night when we switched it on the little red light on the switch failed to light up, and the small green light on the dial did not operate either...

Cant find any fuse problem in the fusebox...

Any ideas?

Red light? this then must be the light on the 240 volt isolation fused/switch spur.
If then this is not lit, then you don't have 240v arriving at the switch, or, power is getting there but either the 10A/13A fuse is blown, or, the switches internal fuse holders are weak and not making connection, (this latter problem being not as uncommon as you might think!)

The fuse in the wall switch was a right pig to get out - to the point where the little plastic caddy was smashed when getting to the fuse. The fuse itself was not blown...

Are there fuses anywhere else to check or what should I be looking at?

You have found the problem, the second one I mentioned, you will then need to replace the isolation switch.

The little green light on the control which does both temperature and Supply settings is powered from the pcb board behind the fire. This is a 12v supply powered by a transformer only from this board . The pcb board itself is powered from the mains and if no 240V then you will NOT get a green light , because there is no imput.

Why no imput? As mentioned the 240V supply  comes from RCD and sometimes this goes to a separate switched fuse (ie, which gives a red light when turned,on)

This connection does not always , as in the case with my caravan ,have a separate 240V switch with a neon light. It goes  to the pcb via a in-line connector to the supply from the pcb.

So we have two senarios either a faulty switch connection or fuse in the 240v Supply line , OR the fire IS getting a 240V supply and the transformer on the pcb is blown which in turn means NO green light on the thermostat dial.

On my van the connection to the 240V supply was a straight in line connector which was beneath the wardrobe floor. So in the first instance check the  fire is receiving 240V.

arc systems has wrote in detail about these fires and their faults  for many many years, so really just passing on what I have learnt.

Hope this helps a little bit. Regards Vin

I've bought a new isolation switch and some more fuses - I'll be at the van this weekend so hopefully will get it sorted & report back.

Thanks again!
