Hi,

Following a thread last week-end I bought a B&Q Damp Meter from a very nice chap for £4.95 plus £1 postage.

It arrived today.....it does'nt "click" at all just screams like an ailing poilce car when switched on.....then dies to nothing.

It does seem to work however...no sound if dry, the damper it is the higher the pitch. The LEDs seem to go all a quiver but not as the instructions.

Any of you "lucky" ebayers got yours yet?

Bought a battery yesterday....I think everything seems to be working fine....haven't tried it in the van yet though...scared of what it might tell me!

Mine arrived today Tara.

Like you I'm a bit scared of putting it anywhere near the van lol.

Mine does'nt "Click" it makes the sound like a demented police car...seems to work though.

But Chris is right though.....we never need an excuse!  Had this van for over a year now.....must be time for a change soon!!!

Mine doesn't work as per instructions either. I think they said one you press it on, it should give one click and the LED flash or something - it doesn't do anything. However, press it against something damp it clicks and whistles, against somehting dry, it is fine.

Chris, that was pretty quick getting it, considering you paid by snail mail.

When I first posted it the guy had 12 - were these all bought by ukcs members? Next time he should advertise on here!

Hi everyone,

               I also got one of the meters but it didnt seem to work so I contacted the seller and he told me to try it on a peice of bread and sure enough I got a response.

I have tried it in the van and fingers crossed (and other bits too) I've not found anything (yet!).
