Hi, I have a coleman dakota hard top trailer tent and the cable to enable it to wind up has snapped and I have no idea who/ where can fix it. The snapped bit is visible underneath so was also wondering if the whole cable system needs replacing ( which would be a big job) or whether it could be rejoined and coated somehow to strengthen it? If anyone has had this done recommendations for places to do it near bristol/ Somerset would be great as well as any rough prices. Thanks.
We use stranded wire for holding the mast up on sailing dinghys which is probably very similar. It is made to exact lengths with loops formed in the ends.
Most good hardware stores and farmer suppliers stock wire joiners as well as wires of various thickness. A similar service is provided by yacht chandlers but more expensively. Make certain that you have the correct size and that any join arrangement remains clear of any pulley or similar arrangement whilst it travels during the full up and down
Happy Fixiting
------------- If if it aren't totally broken its probably best left alone.
