My sister and her husband payed good money for a caravan that they new had damp problems. I said NO!! but they figured that it would be a good winter project and ready for this year. Well they came along with us to Rudding Park, Harrogate for a few days in March, the weather was OK and only got a bit damp. When it came to leaving they found that the front and rear of the caravan was wet, not damp, but wet. The work they did over the winter trying to damp proof the caravan had not worked.

They seem ready to through more money at it but I think it's all in vain, the hole thing looks rotton to me and I have told them to cut their loses and sell it on for spairs or somthing. If you have put yourself in the same situation and tryed floging a dead horse or damp caravan then let them know. You can drop them an email by clicking HERE

Thanks for your time........

Damp is a depressing thing. My advice is if you can see damp anywhere walk away. Look in cupboards at corners etc. Also push and pull on the handles at each corner , they should be solid. If they flex in and out, this means they are not attched to the frame (due to rot) but are attached only to the aluminium. The problem is all caravan s leak. I have a 1982 Sprite Major which is OK, but broke up a1987 Leda recently for  a camper project. I sold all the other bits I didn't need on e-bay and made about £500, for an initial outlay of £100 on the caravan. There are loads of people out there wanting spares for Camper DIY projects. It's a lot of work and mess, but good as a last resort.
