thanks for help what do u call this delaminate fixing kit please. and if poss where do you get it .im asking because I live in france and so I will have to ghet it from uk.
many thanks to the people who answered my cry for help so quickly .first time ive used the forum and what can I say,BRILLIANT!!!! thanks in advance.
You can get it from most caravan dealers try O'Learys.
Just ask for a floor de-lamination kit you get two tins that have to be mixed together, wooden dowels that you knock into the floor first having drilled holes through the top layer of ply make sure they are a tight fit,
You also get a syringe to squirt the mixture into the holes with.
It is easier with two one knocking the pegs while the other injects the mixture.
You may have to trim the top of the pegs off.
Do be carefull it is harmfull on your skin or eyes
The one shot is definitely less mess but is nowhere near as good have been doing delams for 10 or 15 years tried many different ways the two pack is the best but everyone to there own.
i think the one shot relies on plenty of dowels for its strength.. without them its not a very good job..
the shear mess involved with two part resin put me off using it.. but i did insert dowels every couple of inches apart its the dowels that provide the strength..
the small number that come with the kits are a waste of space.. with one shot the dowels do far more than simply filling the holes needed to pour the resin in..
The dowels do add to the strength there not just to fill the holes.
Your supposed to get enough dowels to do the area the mixture covers but they often skimp on them when putting them in the kit tho.
Use a chisel to remove excess dowel and a sander to smooth it all over simples.
i used loads of them.. all cut to the right length first..
do this and there is nothing to chisel or sand anything off..
i got about a dozen with my kit.. i probably used about 150 and less than half a bottle of the glue..
it was that easy i just added more dowels as i felt like it.. basically you end up with solid wood supports between the top and bottom layers of ply.. a pretty solid end result..
the hardest part of the job is removing and re-fitting the carpet or covering..
the people that sell the kits havnt a clue how to use them.. they follow the same rules as with the two part resin method.. they give you way too much glue and way too few dowels.. he he
i made it up as i went along.. the end result was easy and pretty good..
