My coachman recently blew a fuse and I put the wrong fuse in 25amp this melted my fuses and smoke came from my fridge,I've looked at wording behind fridge panel but can't see any melted wires and my fridge is working OK
Anyone got any ideas pls help
I suspect the smoke was caused by burning insulation on the cables as the fault which caused the fuse to blow may have overloaded the cable.
It would be advisable to visually check all the cables fed from that fuse or get an electrician to do an insulation test as if the insulation has melted there is a risk of fire.

If your caravan fridge is usual 3way type & you are talking about 12v circuit from battery then nothing to do with fridge. It only works on 12v from car while towing.
Its sounds as if you have a 12v electrical fault, if fuse blew & you presumably replaced with fuse of higher amp rating yes? Then circuit that was previously protected by fuse has now burnt out? Something has gone faulty & is causing this so you need to check all through 12v system. Was caravan plgged into mains ehu with battery charging at the time?
You need to find out what caused the fuse to blow before doing anything else.
It's bad practice to just replace blown fuses without finding out what caused it to blow.
It could be something simple like a dodgy switch or more serious like a shortage to earth.
If your not confident about electrics better to get a sparks to look at it.
Hi, had a similar problem with a sprite caravan some years back on the 12v circuit. caused by a bad connection on a choc block type connection to fridge it overheated due to electrical resistance and melted. It was only luck that prevented it causing a fire. It did eventually blow the fuse, a fuse too large would have taken longer to blow causing more damage. what made this so bad was the fact connector was sitting on carpet hidden at the bottom of a cupboard. So make sure to get circuit checked.
