Thank you for replies and perhaps now I may be able to help others who have had similar problems relating to an in board water pumps such as mine the Whale UV 0814.
This started with a poor flow through the taps....I also had an annoying pulsing (call it what you will) which meant that I was always turning the pump off, rather than having to listen to the pulsing every 30 seconds or so. All came to a head one day when I had connected the refilled aqua roll....I could get not water at all , just a gurgling noise but no water. I immediately thought pump and after several suggestion I decided to buy a new head £47 ....it didn't cure the problem. I did speak with Whale and after explaining my probs , they said it must be the pump. So now becoming very frustrated I purchased the update FP 0814. I was very pleased when it arrived and fitted it immediately.., same problem . . I had now spent £170 and still no water. However with the new pump it comes with a clear strainer that can be attatched , through this i noticed that it was not fully filled with water , with the pump running. . I then took a close look at the O rings on the connector, having been told by a caravan service centre that they were fine. I then remembered I had an assortment of Theseus my garage and whilst not exactly the correct diameter. ( slightly to thick ) I tried them...and...this was my problem.air was being sucked through the connector I have to say over the past months I had become aware of the pulsing from the pump, and read reviews from others that there pumps were doing exactly the same. Some were quite happy to switch the pump off. Whilst I wouldn't be 100% this could be the same problem . The new O rings have remedied the problem completely. And the pulsating noise is no more. . The only thing I do find, is the new pump, is slightly more noisey . But I am not complaining. I do hope this may help others.
The other thing I have become aware of is that when I was useing the old pump from the inboard supply it did not go through a filter , with the new pump it has a strainer that you fit . But apparently , if I am understanding correctly , you cannot use this strainer if you are on a fully serviced site.
