Hello all,
I have recently changed from a camper van to a 1996 compass Lynx caravan,
My water supply was working fine until I got it out of hibernation and reconnected the pump to the filter unit (truma crystal mark 2).
Now water is leaking around the pump/filter site. Water is still coming through the taps. I think the filter was overtightened.
I have tried replacing the o ring washer but with no improvement.
I did some reading up and decided that an ultra flow conversion kit would be the best option. However once I bought the unit I have discovered that it won't fit into the space in the battery locker, and due to the width of the 2 inlet sockets I can't trim it Down. It looks as though the crystal 2 had to be trimmed anyway.
I've looked into the ultraflow compact, which is slightly too short for the space but even then, there are 2 hoses within the van to connect to the back of the unit, I believe a non return valve is within that unit, so I don't think it will be possible. I can't see any 3 way fittings on the internet that would remedy this. (Not bothered about filtered water as wouldn't drink it anyway, it's for washing.
I'm now thinking of removing the current set up, cleaning and inspecting for any cracks, if there is any, possibly sealing them up, and replacing the pump connector as the pump is actually working.
Just wondering if anyone has any better ideas or thinks this will work, if so, what can I use to seal any cracks I may find? Thanks in advance.

I would think your Carver inlet is cracked and personally I wouldn't even consider trying to repair it. The Truma kit would have been the best option, but I'm suprised you can't get a fit. I have changed several over the years and they haven't been much different to the old inlet that I've removed.

I can't picture the issue you describe (maybe post a photo?), but have I read right that your inlet is within the battery locker? Is there any option to relocate it?

Hi Paul thanks for your advice, yes, it is within the battery locker, and there isn't anywhere else to put it without cutting the van and I would rather not do that. The width of the space inside the locker is 10cm wide and the ultraflow plate is 13cm wide, nightmare! So you can see why I am considering trying to repair the current unit.
The compact would have been a good option had it not been for the 2 hose ends within the van that need attaching to something! Any ideas on a 3 way connector being sourced?
Will be going up to the van tomorrow so I will take some pics.

There shouldn't be any issue with altering the pipework to join these two, to a single common feed from the inlet. Presumably your unit has pipework to feed the cold and a seperate to feed water tank (hot water?), but if the Truma Compact will fit the aperture then go with that and adapt pipes to fit.

The old Carver is probably cracked internally and I think it's unlikely that you could make a complete repair; at best you'd be delaying the inevitable.

Yes that's right, a cold and hot water tank feed. So you think I could join up the 2 pipe feeds with a 3 way and non return valve?Heading to caravan supply shop today to have a look what they have got. Thanks.

Sorry I didn't get back to you, but it seems you've sorted anyway. Good to hear it and I'm sure you'll find havig fitted the Ultraflow to have been the better option than repair.

It's ok, it's just great to have input from others who have been there before before attempting something! It was difficult to see where the crystal was cracked but the only crack I could find was behind the clip retainer. Good riddance to the crystal system anyway hopefully! Onto the next project!
