Hi
I have a 1997 swift cornich and the water pump runs all the time, I have tried the pressure switch and checked the micro switch on the bathroom taps, there is no micro switch on the kitchen tap, the strange thing is there is no power to the pressure switch , I have followed the wiring the best I can but can't seem to find any fault.
Anyone any bright ideas.
You won't have a single pressure switch plus micro switches on the taps as the water system will be operated by one or the other but not both.
However, it is probably down to a low voltage battery because there is not enough power to stabilise the current and when the voltage drops it causes the pump to trigger which eventually drains the battery. As there is no power to the pressure switch (as you say) this is an indication that there is insufficient voltage to activate the pressure switch. What you need is a volt meter and check the battery voltage which for a full charge should be at least 12.7 volts. Anything less and the battery is discharged.
I take it you have an onboard pump if you can hear it running all the time, most caravan taps come fitted with micro switches but aren't connected to anything if an onboard pump is used, if you do have an onboard pump and it's constantly running it could be 1 of 3 things that I can think of.
1 the diaphragm inside the pump has failed and isn't holding pressure.
2 There's a leak somewhere in the system.
3 Some pumps have a pressure control which may have been turned up too high.
I have an onboard pump which from time to time kicks in very briefly to maintain pressure, my pump is 29 years old (same age as the van) so I'm guessing the diapragm in mine is a little weak now, it's probably been like it for sometime as someone has fitted a switch to turn the pump on and off.

Hi
OK first I can assure tango 55 that there is a remote pressure switch and micro switch on the bathroom switch, both are fitted and shown on the wireing diagram I receieved from swift, there is indeed a onboard tank and pump but there is no feed to the pump we are using the external aqua roll pump. There are no leaks and plenty of water pressure, the battery voltage is fine, on hook up at the moment, all the fuses are good.
