We have a leaky toilet service door which is a model 2, can we replace it with a model 3? It's a better door than the one we have now as it has fastenes top and bottom instead of just the middle, just wondered if it will fit the same hole? Thanks all

Try asking Thetford themselves, I believe that their technical help desk is very helpful. Failing that maybe Leisureshop Direct can do the same as they sell 'em.

It looks more like the door is warped than just the seal. It's caused a load of damp which we are starting work on tomorrow so rather than do all that then wait and see if a new seal works we're just going to replace it. It's a 2002 so it's very weathered anyway and rather unsightly

Even if the model 3 service door fits the same size aperture, the door catch slots in the outer frame will be in different locations to the existing single one therefore you will only be able to fit an identical model 2 door with the single middle catch.
However, if the door is slightly warped, replacing with a new rubber surround should seal the perimeter of the aperture as the rubber is quite thick. I had to replace my rubber surround on the service door 2 about four years ago and it hasn't leaked since.
Well at least you found out what you wanted to know.
Thetford have changed the sizes of their cassette waste tank several times that's probably why the aperture size is different.
So what's the solution now, just replace the existing service door?
I had problems with water leaking into my No 5 locker door under the bed, fitted new rubber seal, even tho the old one didn't look too bad, it still leaked.
A new one involved a lot of expense and it came in different bits that needed assembling so I decided to dismantle the door into it's component parts, if I broke it beyond repair it didn't matter, I was going to have to pod out for a new one anyway. A fair bit of faffing about to get the clips undone ensued(as they ain't supposed to be dismantled)and the problem revealed itself, there is an internal foam seal that had shrunk and wasn't doing the job properly. I resealed it all around and all is now well. That is always another option.

the cassette in our caravan is exactly the same as the one in our folding camper, the caravan is a no. 2 and the fc is a no. 3 so I have no idea why they've changed the size of the access door. I will try and source a new no.2 door I guess.
I'm looking at about £50 I think
Thanks Pickled Onion, will check that foam too

It may be that the casette is a slightly different size.
The leak on mine was where the outside door trim mated up against the flat inner panel, so as a short term fix you could run a bead of silicone sealant around the edge of the flat panel.

It's not worth the messing about tryimg to fix a door in case it fails, after replacing a fair bit i=of structural timber and wall boards, scrapping, drying out etc etc it's better to ensure it's a good repair but thanks for your ideas guys
Thanks Tango will have a look now
