I need a new whale mixer tap fitting to my kitchen sink on my ABI Sprinter as it is leaking when I run the tap.
I have been quoted 2.5 hrs labour by my local dealer as they think the fridge will need to come out, they haven't looked at the van though.
Is this reasonable or should it be a quicker fix. I have unscrewed the tap and their isn't much play on the pipes but I would have thought an engineer could do this without taking out the fridge, even so 2.5 hrs sounds a long time. This puts the total cost at about £200.
Thanks
I have just noticed that you can buy the tap spout for about £15, it might be worth me trying this first to see if it stops the leak. The tap is leaking forom the bottom of the spout where it swivels.
If you can stick your hand in & reach bottom of tap underneath sink without removing fridge or whatever then its a simple diy job. If you can't its simple enough to work out what will need to come out to reach bottom of tap, then you can work out cost.
On every caravan tap I have seen you have to get underneath tap to remove it from sink. First you remove pipes which are pushed on but have to be softened with rag soak in boiling water to remove then undo fixings from threaded portions of pipes in order to lift tap out.
As pointed out though a new O ring might do the job so worth a try first.

Does the spout just pull off does anybody know?
When we bought our Swift, the tap was leaking from the bottom of the Whale mixer tap. In our case, it was just a matter of unscrewing the 'spout' bit and replacing the o-ring. It must have taken a whole 5 minutes.
the long swivel spout costs about £17 quid.. they just screw off.. a two minute job.. they can and do suffer from frost damage.. they crack and leak when the water is turned on..
my garden hose connections go the same way.. he he..
all you need is a new spout not a complete mixer unit..
