I think in the first few photos the shelf is a cover-up job that someone had done instead of fixing it properly.

Well done, it looks lovely now 😀

Jesscar,
sorry to keep asking you questions, as you are the only person i have spoken too so far that has an abbey piper van.
My question is now that i have rebuilt the front end of the van from the inside, i was looking at the rear of the drawer unit that sits between the front seats at the front, it has a plastic trim fitted, as if this should interlock with something to stop it moving about, is this correct?
Also as i bought the van without the original curtains, previous owner at some point has fitted just material, and badly, i just want to check, how and where exactly the bottom curtain track goes?
If i could ask you if you could take another photo for me of the inside front shelf of your van so i can compare??
Big ask again, sorry.

Iain

No problem, it's my pleasure to assist where possible.

Unfortunately I can't help with the drawers as we don't have them.

The curtains have popper tape sewn on top and bottom.

Thanks Jesscar, your pics are helping me out alot.

can you confirm that its popper tape for all the curtains including the sides and rear ones, and also popper tape at top and bottom of all these curtains, and not just the front window curtains?

Hi Iain

Front 3 windows: popper tape top (facing forward) and bottom (facing backwards)

Front side windows: no popper tape, these have domestic style curtain tape and hang on hooks shaped like ' at ', from rails on the underside of the cupboards. The rails have sliding circular receptacles. The curtain track should be hidden by some thin wood effect trim which looks to be missing in your photos. The trim fits into a groove in the brown plastic moulding, if that's still present.

Rear side and back windows: popper tape, top only.

Glad to hear it's coming along. I look forward to seeing some photos of it on holiday soon!

Andy

Andy,

Thats fantastic mate, cheers, your a fountain of abbey piper knowledge for me, haha.
I have now started work on the door area, removed the kitchen unit and rear left bench seat, and stripped back some the wall board around the door tonight.
Some of the wood framing around the door is gubbed, all black and falling apart with just rubbing my fingers along it.
Will do a bit more stripping over next few nights.
The door frame mastic has dryed up i guess allowing water to get in behind and through into the wood framing, and i guess its going to be the same for the trim rails running along side of van, as the wood here is black too.
Took some pics, and will photo the job along the way.

It looks alot worse a job than it really is, once u get started and rip out all the rotten wood, youl get into it, just take loads of photo before and during strip down, helps you with rebuild
