First time poster here. I have searched around for an answer to no avail.
I have an ace supreme twinstar 26ft caravan.
The problem im having is to do with the shower flow/pressure. Im a plumber by trade so ive tried everything i can think. The pressure out the shower is pretty rubbish, i litterally have to stand up against the wall to get under the water as the pressure is not enough to throw the water out towards me.
The sink and basin next to the shower is really good pressure and flow. Ive had the hot and cold pipes to the shower disconnected and there is plenty of pressure. If i connect back upto the shower with a head or hose the pressure is very weak again. I cannot see a blockage in the shower itself but it is all enclosed so its hard to see. Do caravan showers restrict the pressure coming out of the shower?
I dont want to buy another shower to find out it has the same problem as its non refundable.
The shower is a reich single lever twist tap which has a microswitch inside. My caravan has on onboard water tank with inline pump. All other taps are excellent pressure.
It sounds as if the microswitch in the shower tap might have failed. The basin tap will turn the pump on and the residual pressure from this will give a feeble litle flow from the shower.
Does the pump run when you turn the shower on? You should be able to hear it.
Modern caravans have a pressure switch system so only one pressure switch operates the pump no matter which tap is switched on. You can convert yours to this if you wish.
Yes my shower runs when i turn it on by itself its just poor pressure. Its not the head height either as i put the shower to the floor and its still the same.
Just wondered if it were a blockage or reducer in the shower.
Hi Matty.
I have the same van and the shower is wonderful so it is not the set up at fault.
There is no microswitch involved, the system is pressurised by the onboard pump as you will know.
Assuming that you have removed the flexible hose and there is still no pressure then it surely can only be a kink in the pipes which run behind the bed headboard and seem to be inaccessible or a blockage in the tap itself.
You can remove the tap unit to access the pipes behind. I can only suggest you do that and try flushing the system through. Careful though otherwise you'll have water everywhere!
Good luck

Its not a pressurised system it is deffo microswitched. When i disconnect the hot and cold from the shower i used the microswitch on the shower to test the pipe work was flowing ok and it was just fine.
My van is the 2004 model and all taps have microswitches. But as i say the 2 other taps have great pressure.
Limescale in the shower head could possibly reduce the water flow. If you need to treat the water for limescale then Truma Aquastar 1+2 is the product to use as I found a difference when I did mine 3 years ago. Just a suggestion that's all.
I don't think limescale clings to plastic actually which is what the water piping is made from.
I think it only attaches to metal components which I thought maybe in the shower head itself but not absolutely sure on that.
Hi, you say you have an in line pump what sort of pump is it? is it the original pump? there are a variety of pumps with different flow rates. you may just need a stronger pump capable of lifting the water to the greater height of the shower head. It is possible to increase water pressure by fitting an extra inline pump in the main water pipe just after existing pump
No expert on the subject, tell me if I am mad! Could you test the flow by disconnecting a pipe leading to the shower and use a hose under house pressure to test the flow for a short time. I do know (which is obvious to me as a novice) that the pressure will be higher, but if the flow increases it will prove no blockage or obstruction! then you could try the micro switch. Also what checks have you performed? I ask as a novice to consider if I get the problem. I replaced my shower head from a 99p store hose and it improved flow, which was ok to begin with. i'll be Interested in your reply or thoughts!
Sounds like you might have a bad micro switch which makes with a high resistance hence poor pump performance due to low voltage supplied to pump. Try shorting the micro switch wires together.
Hi,If you are certain the taps have micro switches you could try turning on any of the other taps to pressurise the system and see if the shower improves, if not it is probably a blocked mixing valve.
