Hello all

fairly new tou caravanning having moved on from tenting and have a coachman amara 480/4 2000. I'm getting our van ready for it's first foray abroad in 3 weeks and having a few issues which hopefully you can help with ?

ive just fixed a leaking o ring on the whale tap which neccesitated a full drain down. At the same time I've swopped from butane to propane light (not sure if it's relevant but best give all the facts)

on filling up the system to check the oring fix my cascade rapide GE 850w water heater has stopped working on 240 volts. the green light comes on then the red trip light illuminates. It works fine on the gas setting.

there is water running through both the hot & cold system and on gas it heats up nicely.

the over temp stat was tripped, I've reset that and it's not retripped but the red light of doom keeps coming on !

ive checked the resistance of the element & that's 64ohm as it should be. I've checked the 2 stats and the normal temp reads minimal resistance but the over temp stat reads 1.7ohm.

im guessing I may have done something to upset the over temp stat but I'm not sure what or if it can be fixed quickly & cheaply.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated so I can stop worrying about & start anticipating out first foreign outing.

Thanks

andy

You can take the cover off the heater to see if you have 240v

Hi, our carver water heater has only a mains type switch for operating it on 240v mains. the green and red lights you mention only light the gas, these are on the 12v panel one set of green and red lights for water heater and an adjacent set for space heater. is there a mains switch not switched on or an MCB tripped out in consumer unit.

I drained it all off, reset the thermostat and refilled it and touch wood it seems to be working fine now.
