Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can give me some help

I'm repairing my Bailey Pageant 2003 front windows (with the help of the Fixed It club) and I need to buy new rubber seals.

I'm a bit confused about what width is being referred to on various sites that sell them and what the measurement refers to.

My caravan wall is 30/31mm thick. Bailey sell rubbers for 34/35mm (I understand they increased the wall thickness at some point but I'm not sure when) and sealsdirect.co.uk sell them at 25mm,27mm, 30mm and 35mm - the profile on all of them looks right.

When I measure the inside of the 'square' bit on the old seal that fits over the wall on my 'van, it comes out as 34/35mm but when I hold the seal back over the wall there is a gap of 3/4mm - I know I should allow a bit for the mastic but not that much I would have thought.

Does anyone out there have any knowledge of this subject? Id it normal for the rubber seal to be quite a bit wider than the wall?

Thanks.

Steve

Tried removing the mastic but, unless there is a simple way of doing it, it will take forever and it is very messy. The 'bubble tube' that sits on the outside is also perished in a few places.

Regards,

John

Contact seals direct and send them a piece of the seal you want they will match it for you.

Try doing this to remove the sikaflex Click

Hi John

no probs ! when I did mine on my COC the mastic had been on that long that it was hard ! So I just scraped it of with the edge of a screwdriver then resealed with mastic strip, witch was 5mm wider than the van window width !

right or wrong way of doing it it stopped it leaking !
