We have had torrential rain while away and i have just gone into our bathroom to find water in shower tray it seems to be coming through skylight and we think the sealant has gone round sides does anyone know how easy it is to repair as we are still away.
Are you sure its leaking, might be just the rain getting in if it was "Bouncing"on the roof through the vents however, this will show you how its done though they replace the full skylight..Click
Or could it be coming in through the dome itself.. Just done one of mine. Is the water dripping of the handles if so it will be the plastic fixings that hold the dome on. The plastic button mouldings on top outside that hold the handles on perish and let water in or the dome splits around them . I applied sealant over mine for now until I get time to replace them . if you undo the 4 screws that hold the handles on and remove the dome you will see if that is the cause of the leak if not then it will possibly be the seal around the frame which in that case see above what Caravan1996 said.
It seemed to be coming through one of the screw holes although it is in tight enough my hubby thinks the sealant has worn away our van is 20 years old and has a few niggles now unfortunately but it is still a cracking van
As has already been said. Fairly easy job, recently re placed two on my van.
Take the screws out from inside, drop frame down then push the outer part upwards. Clean off old sealant and replace with mastic tape.
I had a leak on my old van from a roof light and it was one of the plastic rivets holding the handle on that was leaking so I replaced just the lid part of it. Just check it's not that before removing it all.
Forgot to say my van is also getting on a bit...28 years old.
After cleaning off the old mastic with white spirit I would use mentholated spirits as this then removes the grease film left behind from the white spirits which can prevent the mastic from sealing to the roof.
Ok thanks everyone for replies we have a lot of niggly problems with her now we have tried to replace the brake cable thing but cant get old one off so that will have to wait till we get home
