Hiya, I plan to replace the pump this weekend along with the upgraded drain from Thetford. The old pump is out.
Question is
The vacuum breaker above the pump. Does it clip into place or just rely on the strength of the pipe running from the top of the pump? Had a look using a mirror and it is not obvious.
If it relies on the pipework for support, does it have any tolerance for not being square. I mean if it is slightly tilted, will it leak?

I took my pump out when it split due to ice in the winter because the water couldn't all drain away,(hence the mod) From memory all the tubing connections had small spring clips on them that you loosen with a pair of pliers rather than a 'jubilee clip', which you could use. I think it best to do similar, they are cheap and easily available, then you are sure it won't leak.

I am not very good at describing the question. The vacuum breaker has a moulded hook built into its moulding and I wonder what this clips into.
I can't see how the vacuum breaker is held in place. It came out attached to the pump hose and I can't understand if it is positively held in place or is just supported on the pipework.

The Thetford part number is - Vacuum breaker 16833

I think I must be losing it by concerning myself with this question

I know this post was from a few years back and I don’t think people got your question at the time
I have exactly the same problem now When taking the pump out the vacuum breaker just comes out sitting on top of the pipe, does this fix to anything and has come loose or just supported by the water pipe

The vacuum breaker is free-standing, and as verticle as possible, if my memory serves me well. Its purpose is to allow some air to be drawn into the system should a vacuum build up. There is a little clip on the side which may assist clipping it onto a nearby edge or fitting.
