The fridge will not be connected to the van's 12 volt system so would not discharge the leisure battery under any circumstances. The 12 volt setting should only operate the fridge when the engine of the tow vehicle is running.
All that would have happenned is that the fridge may have warmed up a bit until you plugged in the 240 volt again; if the door was kept shut and it was not a very long tow it should not be a problem.
