If you`re patient sort of chap you could make a former (frame) to the correct shape then use thin strips of wood (soaked in water to make them pliable) and clamp them to the former so they dry to the correct curve, building up one on top of another until you get the correct thickness.

As what you are doing won`t be visible, it would be far easier, quicker and cheaper to use a few pieces of timber glued and screwed together to make a rough curve then use a jigsaw or similar to get the correct profile. I used this when repairing the rear corner of a Lunar many moons ago. If you`re keeping the van, use treated timber, waterproof glue and stainless or brass screws so if you do get another leak the wood will retain its structure.

Small point but it depends on how strong you need it to be and how much of a curve there is.

For a slight curve I would soak a bit of ash in hot water for a few hours and clamp it to a former.

For a bigger curve laminated would be easier.

Laminated in strips (WBP ply or hardwood such as ash) or steamed and clamped to a former are the strongesr than cut curves.

I would use marine grade screws.

In that case it might be easier to just jigsaw the shape out of enough thicknesses of WBP ply to get the overall thickness you need and clamp and glue them up with waterproof glue.

It will take a screw into the edge if needed.

That's not a bad idea actually.I think that's the way I will go.I use pu80 adhesive.it sticks to anything stays flexible and it completely waterproof.can use it on marine stuff aswell.
