Me and my dad have over the last year or so been working on rebuilding the whole interior of our eccles explorer 1997 twin axle caravan. So far we have stripped everything out of the interior and have stripped the walls of all the insulation in the hopes of rebuilding it to how we want it!
BUT! We have ran into a problem where on the back corner on the door side even with a structure built up inside to the correct height the back corner has dropped by about 2cm and so we cannot screw the awning rail back into the side of the caravan base. We have been scrolling throughout alot of forums to see if anyone else has had the same problems but to no avail.
We have replaced the interior structure and made it more solid, and also added in to the roof more structural support on the one we took out because of water ingress. If anyone has any idea on how to help with this it would be grand if you could share with us on how to get rid of this.
Also where the tail lights meet the side of the caravan where we removed the awning rail there seems to be a small gap where the bottom has came away from the back (Our guess to where it has dropped.) but we cannot seem to close the gap no matter how hard we try and how much structural support we add in. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you i will have a look through this today and hopefully get some photos of what i need to fix to see if i can make it more clearer what i am after fixing :)
these pictures are from what has happened outside the caravan in the back corner that i was speaking about.

this one is from inside ont he same spot

This is an angled shot of how the caravan has dropped in the back corner

and this is how low it has dropped

it should look about this

with the gap under where the insulation was taken off
with room for a 20mm piece of wood.
This is a shot from under the caravan,

you can see where the white line goes from a shorter gap to 2cm gap at the inner corner.
I have had a look through most of the forums trying to find anything that might help me sort this out yet to no prevail. I am just hoping that someone on here might have the right information to help me get rid of this hiccup we seem to have ran into.
I know this might not help but I think the problem may be cause because you have stripped everything out from the caravan and rebuilt the interior without checking the external corners where still in the correct place.
You could try removing the interior from around the back corner and try and push the exterior back into position.
the back end wood placement is in exactly the same areas as the damp wood we pulled off so unsure if that will be the reason for it getting out of place, but tomorrow we are going to try get the awning rails all screwed back on and try get it onto a more level setting as it seems like its just one side that has dropped hopefully will be able to get it sorted. If not were gunna remove all the wood and start again. from the ground up
We can push it in yes but the force just pulls the screws out again we think we may have found out why but I guess it's just trial and error until we find out why it's dropped as we can push it in but we still have the 2-3 cm gap underneath
Yeah we recently found out that as we were trying to push the shell up we had this genius idea too. But a bit unfortunate it worked too well haha we managed to get the gap mostly closed up and then realised the person who we brought it from must have changed the rear bumper so there was still a gap there just that they had tried to close it up using silicon. The only downside no is as we have raised up all the caravan legs and raised one side to the right height and now on the other side I think we may have added in a support to the wall that wasnt supposed to be there and so has caused the caravan shell to flex slightly so now we need to find out why it has happened. But this was a very silly error that has bugged us for at least a year of why it happened. Until recently I think myself of quite a clever guy, but me and my father this has eluded us for a good year until it finally twigged.
