I have painted plastics. You need a good etch primer after rubbing down the surface with say 400 grade wet/dry paper. After a few coats key the surface with scotch cloth and denib. The top coat paint must be flexible and better purchased from a car body shop supplier. They will suggest a good paint, that is used today on plastic bumpers, and mix it for you to your chosen colour.
Ask a local refinishing (spray painting) repair shop for their advice.
I was thinking it would need a good key.. it'll be a pain in the bum because it's textured. I think it'll be worth it tho.
A plumber mate of mine mentioned that there is a gloss white paint that you can get now that is for restoration of plastic shower trays. It's supposed to be 100% resistant to all cleaning products.
Not found it as of yet tho and he didn't know who made the stuff.
I have another mate that owns a car body repair shop. I didn't think to talk to him about it! Would be nice to have a colour choice. I'll pop and see him tomorrow i think.
We have used the above on our shower tray after repairing a small crack with resin. Only just done it but it looks good and has given the tray a brighter look.

We are just getting to the end of renovating our 90's Swift Conqueror and being a 90's van had a "lovely" beige vanity unit.
We now have a gleaming white bathroom! After a general clean up and gentle roughing up of the surface with a scotch pad then another clean, we used plastic primer from Halfords, white appliance paint, then finally Halfords clear laquer and hey presto, a new looking bathroom.
We even spayed the old Thetford C2 as well! an got a new seat.
My thought process on thr coice of paint and finish was think of the abuse your appliances take and also you car.
Cleaned with a normal spay cleaner and no issues so far.
My advice would be take you time and build up the layers slowly.
------------- Damp is not a problem its an opportunity!
For gods sake take the advice of plastic re finishers ie vehicle repair specialists who have specialised in painting plastics! These are people who have put cars back on the road! I'm saying no more!

calm down dude! I was in the automotive business myself for 20 years (grease not paint!), Been to see my mate today who has run a sprayshop for more than 20 years.. he has recommended NOT using the paints they use for car bumpers etc as they can be damaged by bathroom detergents... so that's not going to happen now.
The best way forward is going to be with the paint designed for shower trays that is totally resistant to detergents (even bleach)
I've ordered the paint. I will let you know how i get on.
Before you go to the expense of costly products try W5 synthetic material care £1.99. wet a cotton cloth wring well make a pad, shake tin well spray a small amount on pad and rub part to be cleaned add small amount as you move on to different area.
I used on all plastic surfaces inside and out of van even paint work and abs front/back, if a bit dull in some places after use repeat and you will get a nice shine
I all but used a full tin on a 4 berth Eldiss 5 year old(wife complained it made loo seat to slippy), Dealer asked us if we ever used van. Part exed it at 2pm he sold it at 4-30 pm same day, he told me when I called in next day for free gas bottle and spare wheel, changed to BP propane gas from calor to reduce weight.

Unfortunately it's discoloured as in faded (lighter) rather than darker ingrained dirt.
