Hi all

I have had some issues with replacement jockey wheels on my Alko chassis. Now I will admit to not spending a great deal on the two I've had (the first bit the dust after a rookie mistake) but the clamp does not seem to fit the shaft very well and when maneuvering using my newly fitted motor mover, has damaged the outer shaft.

I have decided to splash out on a heavy duty Alko jockey wheel but have noticed there are 2 clamp options - cast or pressed.

Does anyone have any view on which one is best or experience with either?

My thoughts are as the cast clamp has a continuous hole with a shim to clamp the shaft and it would offer better support over a pressed clamp that bites on two edges.

Everyone's thoughts are welcome and appreciated in advance.

Mines pressed steel and the original fitted item, no problems with the mover.

When using the mover do you raise the van using the jockey wheel or lower the whole unit and only raise it enough to clear the lugs?

Its much stronger if you undo the bracket and drop the whole clamp.

Does that make sense?
