Hi our heaters playing up - sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't. The green it is on on the switch but when I turn the thermostat up or down I can't hear the thermostat click on or off. Also the fan heaters packed up and to cap it all off the gas fires sprung off its fittings and the control knob is loose! Anyone know A what's the problem with the heating or B a good mobile engineer - we are currently in Melton Mowbray

The fan and the heater are supplied from different sources, ie, the blower fan works on 12 volts and the electric heater on mains so no one fault is likely to be the culprit.
It sounds like bad connections somewhere to me, my guess is a loose plug or faulty switch for fan and more major item for electric heating, possibly worn out contacts in relays on control board. Gary at Arcsystems.biz in Nottingham is your man I think.

Hi, the fan on my heater is very noisy, sounds like it is catching on something. Any ideas, Ron.

Hi Daz & Sara I to cannot hear any clicking when I move my thermostat up or down.
I can feel the outer grey ring locate when I turn one stage clockwise 500w (Not worth carrot) second stage 1000w not bad on chilly summer nights.
Turn anti clock from off position one stage only 2000w soon puts out heat from front of heater. I leave for 5/10mins then turn on fan bottom ring on top of heater to auto and top ring which only goes down to 1 to 3/4, if top ring fan speed is turned to 5 or full on it becomes noisy like cheap portable fan heater.
I said in a early blog that there is a fuse mounted on the fan at the back of the heater with push on connectors for fan control perhaps you have a dodgy connection here.

Depends what model heater you have and the year, they have changed many times over the years,my first had no thermostat control on electric side as it was just a back up to assist gas until van was warm then you turned electric off, but now it is done for you and usually wont work while gas control side is on.

The lights in my first van were gas mantels no battery
12 volt lights, How ever I hope you get it sorted soon as it is a must this time of the year, I carry a Lidl fan heater as a back up(very quiet) 2000w max with thermostat which I sometimes use to warm up loo or shower cubicle for her Ladyship.used it this year as a fan only on some of the hot days.

Early this year talking to women on next pitch who had her new to her van fully serviced week before she came on site had to call out local service eng because heater would not work and stunk, the front cover was totally full of dog hairs so much for dealership sevices.

It may well be catching on something, not too easy to get at though to have a look. Perhaps a something has been sucked in?

May just need a spray of wd40 on the fan spindle but with all gas products don't play with what you don't know.
Try googling MCEA they are an organisation of a nationwide team of independent mobile engineers
