hello peeps , i have just had my 1993 swift rapide gas safty checked and i am told that i have carbon monoxide showing in the caravan, which is coming from the water heater and gas heater, can you please advise me on getting them serviced and where. i live in Hattersley nr Hyde Cheshire any help would be gratefully received Thankyou a newbie kevin :)

22 yr old gas appliances leaking Co? Cause could be flues rusted out, do you actually want them repaired? Any caravan workshop or mobile fitter should be capable of repairing gas appliances if they are repairable. If it was a workshop that gas tested them & did not offer a repair that might tell you something.

You can manage without hot water in caravan, use campsite facilities & if you are paying for ehu you might as well use electric fan heater for heating.

why can't the people who told you had c0 in the van do the repairs if they are the experts. ??
AS the o/p said just use mains for now.

I would think any caravan workshop that tests 22yr old gas appliances & finds them emitting CO would want not any part in repairing them, they would most likely advise removal & disposal of appliances.

I hope they isolated them and made them safe. The water heater is no problem. The room heater may be more of an issue as parts are not as readily available.

Pity I did not read this at the time because I really don't understand the statement, "it is coming from water heater AND fire"?

Might be one or the other but to say the least, it's rare in either case, so for both to be at fault! that would strike me as very unlikely indeed??
