Can anyone help regarding a thetford cassette toilet? The indicator light is on, even though its empty and toilet won't flush. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance x

I think you have two separate problems here.
1) The light staying on is either caused by the float inside the cassette sticking in the 'UP' position or the microswitch sticking On.
Try removing the cassette and giving it a sharp tap at the rear to release the float or put your hand (suitably gloved ) in the cassette and ensure the float has dropped down.
If this doesn't work it is likely to be the microswitch which is on the small circuit board you can see at the rear of the compartment. Remove the board by gently pulling upwards. Only answer is to replace the board for about £10/£102.
2. Assuming you have the electric flush, failure is often corrosion on the fuse that you can see, again, at the rear of the compartment. Remove the fuse, clean the blades and socket (I used a nail file) and replace
Good luck, DaveS1

Firstly it will help to explain how it works and what the problem may well be. There is a float inside the waste tank which has an attached magnet that swivels on an arm and in the cassette compartment there is a reed switch that activates the red full light indicator providing that the batteries are active and the fuse is functional. When the waste fluid increases by volume, the float rises slowly which eventually passes over the reed switch which the magnet then activates the light indicator. However, there is a known common problem that occasionally, toilet paper can get wedged between the float and the cassette tank side wall and in extreme cases will fail to budge so the only solution is to check and remove the offending paper manually. The procedure is to remove the tank and part fill it with a solution of disinfectant and warm water for cleaning purposes which is then discarded so the tank is empty. The next stage is to remove the lip seal plate on the top of the tank via the six screws and carefully remove the plate completely to allow access to the inside of the tank by hand. As it is impossible to see inside the tank you have to feel exactly where the float is and then inspect to see if any waste toilet paper has jammed the float operation. If so, carefully remove any paper taking care not to damage the float then check and feel if the arm is free to swivel. Finally, re-assemble the top lid in reverse order with the six fixing screws and check that the lip opens and closes via the corresponding operation dial adjacent to the lip seal plate. Re-fit the tank into the cassette compartment and then test by filling it with cold water with a watering can or bucket etc. till the tank is nearly full and the light should register as normal. Although it's not a complicated task, the hardest bit is trying to locate the float inside the tank by hand.
If that fails to rectify the problem it could be as previously stated that the micro-switch has malfunctioned.

You said any advice would be appreciated so was the advice from the above posts any good at all in solving the cassette toilet problem?
It helps others who have the same problem and want to search for related answers.
