I have a 1995 viceroy jubilee with a big patch of damp just started to form on the rear back bottom of the van.
I've had the van over a year now and keep it stored over the winter on a farmers field.
Just went to go away in it last week and saw a massive damp patch in the bottom right hand corner of my van so got a quote from my local caravan repair shop in pontypool and they quoted me £2000 which is worth more than the van.
I have noticed that I have got a rivet missing on both the top rail and the bottom rail both on the same corner of the back of the van above and below window which is making the rail at each corner stick out from the frame a little so this must be where the damp is coming in from.

I actually put my caravan up for sale on Saturday morning on eBay in the classified section, but by Saturday teatime me and the Mrs decided to take her away for one last time as we didn't have the kids with us that weekend and we sleep up the opposite end of van to where the damp is.

So when we got to site we talked and although we both know I'm like Frank Spencer when it comes to DIY, we both decided I should have a crack at fixing the repairs and take it off of EBay next day.

I've now ordered my 1st ever drill on EBay, plus a drill bit and the dowels and the special liquid for putting into floor for delamination by door. Watched a few videos on YouTube and confident I can fix floor.
Bought 2 tubes of Sikaflex 221 which I was told will go onto the 2 rear rails I take out.
I have looked on YouTube for videos on how to do everything in simple easy steps but can't find anything to watch on where I start?
The rail has a rivet to start on each corner but this is missing on the damp corner, and then about 4 screws going across which need unscrewing until I get to the rivet on opposite side that is still actually present and riveted in.
So, if I take these all out, screws and rivets, I gather I take the metal rail off and then clean it all off with turps?

I'm not sure what is under the gap where rail would have been? Just a gap? So clean this out also?

Once that is done do I just use the sikaflex gun and empty it all into the gap before I put the rail back on? Or do I just put it inside the rail? Or on the outside of the rail? This is where I'm confused as I've never done sealing with a gun in my life before?
Cheers for any help

You'll probably find an overlap behind the rail, or possibly just a continuous sheet. You definitely will not have a gap in the bodywork.

Really you need to remove the wallboard from the damp area as well as you'll find the timber behind is soaking wet. And possibly rotten

Wrong Answer! Lol. The wood is still hard, what if I just dry it out with a hot fan heater?
