hello everyone. i am about to change friction pads on my al-ko stabalizer i was wondering is it the 2 side pads that are replaceable. not sure how many pads are in the hitch head.

But the front and rear pads only apply to the Alko 3004 model only. The 1300 and AKS 2000 models only have 2 side friction pads so the OP needs to identify which model stabiliser they have to ensure the friction pad replacement is complete.
But in your link it shows the 3004, I was pointing out that there are more than two pads in that model.

after replacing the front back and side friction pads in 2004 stabalizer , is there any other reason why the friction would still be poor. bearing in mind the hitch is clean ie free from grease and the towball is new.
the paint is gone the towball is clean. why use methylated and white spirit surely either will degrease towball. any idea how much friction there should be for instance if i insert my detatchable tow ball to van how hard should it be for me to move it left to right and up and down when stabalizer is in place.

As long as it's nice and shiny there is no need to clean it with anything other than a cloth.
