Hi, just bought my very first caravan, an Elddis Jetstream EX300, 1998 model. I was convinced there were no damp issues which is why I bought it. However, today I noticed that the rear grab handles were loose and needed tightening up. I'm sure you can guess the rest. Yes that's right, the wood is totally rotten.
I am pretty sure that the seams are fine and the problem is with the screw holes.
So, it looks like the timbers at each corner will have to be replaced, that means totally removing the kitchen and the bathroom. As an ex bench joiner I'm going to have a go myself, I'm not phased by tackling the job in terms of having the skills etc but I am a little concerned due to my lack of knowledge regarding caravan construction etc.
Any advice before starting out would be great fully received
