Hi All,

I'm posting this for a friend.

He has a Sprite Sportstyle S6 from around 2007/8.

At the weekend he spotted a vertical crack about 2 inches long on the front panel. It's vertical, just to the left of centre above the front window but below the front/roof panel joining strip.

The local caravan place has apparently given him some mastic to squirt in and said to put some tape over the top. It's a hairline crack so not sure how successful this will be.

Does anyone know if this known issue on these vans or have any advice on how to fix this properly.?

He was also wondering if this would be covered by his van insurance, I thought probably not but happy to be corrected.

Any thoughts most appreciated.

This was common thing with vans at that age.If the window bar is removed you will probably find it starts from a screw if it is cracked right through.If not it may just be a crack in the surface gel coating of the panel.Insurance does not cover it.

I'll check with him how deep the crack is. From how he originally described it I got the impression it was a true crack, i.e. the plastic was split.
If so would the sealant and tape be a realistic solution?
